Given in question , C.P. of two shirts = $ 840
Let the CP of shirt sold at 16% gain be Rs. y.∴ y × 116 + (840 - y) × 88 = 840 100 100
⇒ 116y + 88 × 840 – 88y = 84000
⇒ 28y = 84000 – 88 × 840 = 840 × 12⇒ y = 840 × 12 = Rs. 360 28
CP of second shirt = 840 – 360 = Rs. 480
Second Method to solve this question :
Let the CP of shirt sold at gain be Rs. p and that of shirt sold at loss be Rs. q.∴ p × 16 = q × 12 100 100
Correct Option: A

Let the C.P. of television set be Rs. y.
First S.P. = Rs. 110 y 100 First S.P. = Rs. 11 y 10 New C.P. = Rs 9y 10 New S.P. = Rs. 9y × 120 10 100 New S.P. = Rs. 27y 25
From the question ,∴ 11y - 27y = 360 10 25
