As we know that both the sidebands have same information therefore, one sideband can be filtered out. In the place of the sideband eliminated a different sideband obtained by modulating a different signal on the same carrier is added. This is known as independent sideband as the two sidebands carry the different information. The principal application of ISB is applied in FDM.
