The Eighth Schedule to the Indian Constitution contains a list of 22 scheduled languages. In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 370 of the Constitution, the President, with the concurrence of the Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir made the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954 which came into force on 14/5/1954.
