The full form of BMT is Bone Marrow Transplant.
It is a medical procedure performed to change bone marrow
that has been damaged by any disease or infection. A bone marrow transplant is also known as stem cell transplant.
What is Bone marrow?
It is a soft, spongy tissue inside the bones that makes blood-forming cells (stem cells). Theses stem cell converts into Red blood cell,white blood cell, platelets , these blood cell carry oxygen into the body, fight with infection,and control bleeding.

Bone marrow transplant performed people suffering from Leukemia, severe blood diseases like thalassemia, aplastic anemia, and sickle cell anemia, Multiple myelomas, Certain immune deficiency diseases, Inborn errors, Bone marrow syndrome, Plasma cell disorder and Neuroblastoma etc.

There are two type of bone marrow transplant:
Allogeneic Transplant
This transplant involves the use of stem cells from a donor. stem cells of a donor are transferred to the recipient body.
Autologous Transplant
This transplants involves the use of persons owns stem cell.
