  1. The full form of BOC is Bank of Ceylon. BOC is a leading commercial state-owned bank in Sri Lanka. It is founded in1936 by Sir Ernest de Silva and headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The bank is operating with 628 branches, 689ATMs, 123 CDM network and 15 regional loan centres in Sri Lanka.

    The bank keeps a seaward financial unit in the administrative centre in Colombo, and three branches in Malé, Chennai and Seychelles, and the subsidiary in London.

    A brief history of BOC



    BOC was set up in 1939 and Sir Ernest de Silva is first executive

    Ceylon was a British colony at the period, and Sir Andrew Caldecott, at that point lead representative, ceremoniously started the bank on 1 August.

    The British government introduced the banking arm for its government-oriented businesses. after two years in 1941, BOC spread it beyond the city of Colombo.

    The primary branch was opened in Kandy.

    BOC started new branches in major cities like Jaffna, Galle, Kurunegala, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Panadura and Badulla.
