  1. The full form of BCG is Bacillus Calmette-Guerin. It is a vaccine that gives protection from tuberculosis disease. it builds antibodies against tuberculosis. BCG vaccine first developed by French bacteriologists Albert Calmette and Camille Guérin and it were first medically used in 1921.
    BCG vaccine is usually given at the time of birth or up to 6 months, but child can be vaccinated any time up to five years of age.
    BCG vaccine is also effective in Buruli ulcer infection, other non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, and treatment of bladder cancer.
    This vaccine cause complication in pregnant lady, HIV positive person, positive Mantoux test.
