If √2 = 1.414 , the square root of √2

√2 = 1.414 (Given)
Now,

√2 − 1	=	(√2 − 1)(√2 − 1)
√2 + 1	=	(√2 + 1)(√2 − 1)

	(√2 − 1)²	= (√2 − 1)²
	2 − 1

= 2 + 1 – 2√2
= 3 – 2√2
= 3 – 2 × 1.44
= 3 – 2.828
= 0.172

If √2 = 1.414 , the square root of		√2 − 1	is nearest to
		√2 + 1
