A student was asked to multiply a number by 3/2 but he divided that number by 3/2. His result was 10 less than the correct answer. The number was :

Let assume the given number be P. Then,

	P ×	3			−		P ÷	3		= 10
		2						2

⇒	3P	−	2P	= 10
	2		3

⇒	9P − 4P	= 10
	6

⇒ 5P = 60
⇒ P = 12
Hence , required number is 12.
