Direction: The histogram, given below, shows the number of families of a locality having various daily incomes, as obtained by a survey. Observe the graph and answer the questions based on it.

  1. What percent of families have their daily incomes less than $ 500?
    1. 90%
    2. 45%
    3. 30%
    4. 20%
Correct Option: B

As per the given above bar graph , we have
Number of families who have daily income interval 0-100 = 15
Number of families who have daily income interval 100-200 = 10
Number of families who have daily income interval 200-300 = 40
Number of families who have daily income interval 300-400 = 5
Number of families who have daily income interval 400-500 = 20
Number of families who have daily incomes less than $ 500 = 15 + 10 + 40 + 5 + 20 = 90
Total number of families = 15 + 10 + 40 + 5 + 20 + 30 + 15 + 10 + 40 + 15 = 200

Required percentage =
90
× 100 = 45%
200
