  1. A shopkeeper purchased 510 eggs at the rate of Rs. 20 per dozen. 30 eggs were broken on the way. In order to make a gain of 20%, he must sell the remaining eggs at the rate of
    1. Rs. 22.50 per dozen
    2. Rs. 25.50 per dozen
    3. Rs. 26 per dozen
    4. Rs. 26.50 per dozen
Correct Option: B

Given in question , 30 eggs out of 510 eggs were broken.
Remaining eggs = 510 - 30 = 480 i.e. 40 dozen of eggs
C.P. of 12 eggs = Rs. 20

∴ C.P. of 480 eggs =
510
× 20 = Rs. 850
12

∴ C.P. of 1 dozen eggs =
850
=Rs. 21.25
40

∴ For a profit of 20%,
Required S.P. per dozen = Rs.21.25 × 120 = Rs. 25.50
100
