given, ID = 0.4 mA
VTP = – 0.8 V
kP = 200 µA/V2
ID = kP [VSG + (– VTP)]2
0.4 × 10–3 = 200 × 10–6 [VSG + 0.8]2
or [VSG + 0.8]2 = 2
or VSG = √2 + 0.8 = 2.21 V
or VSG = VS – VG = VS – 0 = VS
= 2.21 V
