Five years ago Vinay's age was one-third of the age of Vikas and now Vinay's age is 17 years. What is the present age of Vikas ?

Let the present age of the Vikas be x years. Then,
17 - 5 = (x - 5)/3
⇒ x - 5 = 36
∴ x = 41 years
